Traveling in Style
Tranquillo – the one thing I was so desperately searching for. After a hectic year, and plenty of hard work, my husband and I were in need of some much deserved R&R. So, we decided to plan a family vacation, with peace and serenity being the name of the game.
Our usual go to destination is Turkey, due to my family connections there, but this time we fancied something different. Something still with sea, sand and sunshine though! We began to plan our dream vacation with our 2 kids – only it turned out far harder than originally anticipated. The internet proved to be a total overload of information, reviews saying yes, reviews then saying no, we ended up going round and round in circles.
That’s when we turned to Designreisen for help. A travel agency that claims to be your “Connection to Paradise”. And in fact, in many cases it has been for us. They even planned our unforgettable honeymoon 12 years ago. Meanwhile the founders Robert and Marion Aliabadi have become friends of ours. I trust them implicitly. Whenever I visit them for new destination ideas I feel overwhelmed with how inspiring their location is. The venue feels more like a stylish loft than an agency office. Visitors are invited to take a seat in what can only be described as a kind of futuristic yurt. Depending on your favoured destination a movie is projected on to curtains – and an amazing 3D audio visual takes you to the most wonderful places: safaris, desert wanderings or maldive divings – it’s hard not to book immediately when Robert and Marion help you to swoon over such fantastic realms.
For our last vacation Marion suggested the Park Hyatt in Mallorca. And although I had my doubts at first, being used to smaller boutique hotels I happily booked it following their reassurance that it will perfectly meet our demands.
Upon arrival we were already charmed by the hotel’s kind and friendly vibe. It looked just like an oil canvas of a traditional Spanish village surrounded by lush green scenery. The architect truly captured the warmth of a homely mediterranean town. It’s a big hotel with 142 rooms, but with an intimate feel. The buildings cascade down the side of the hill and flow into the beauty of Canyamel’s nature rather than destroying it.
We were overwhelmed by the tastefully furnished rooms just as much as the calm and peaceful surroundings. I had finally found my boutique hotel atmosphere, just on a much larger scale!
Now if it’s a party mood you’re after, full of nightclubs, this is not the right place for you. The emphasis here is on families, having the chance to relax and have fun together.
We rented a car so we could explore wider Mallorca whilst driving around, however we spent 50% of the vacation at the hotel, relaxing, visiting the fabulous spa and enjoying all the restaurants the Park Hyatt has to offer. My favourite being BALEARIC, famed for serving fresh local fish and authentic mallorquine cuisine.
However, those of you with a keen itch to explore will be pleased to hear that the surrounding areas are equally as wonderful. Drives along the coast, turquoise clear waters, caves to explore and historical sight-seeing all within easy reach.
The trip was full of magical moments, but one of my favourites was when we first arrived, and my son ran into the bedroom, jumped onto the spacious bed and proudly proclaimed “I LOVE MALLORCA”. As any parent knows, if your kids are happy – you’re happy!
Long Story Short
…we had an amazing time, and every member of the family enjoyed themselves. We’ll definitely be returning! This was our first time to Mallorca but certainly not our last! All my prejudices of staying at a larger hotel, or the stereotype of beer drinking party tourists were proven wrong, showing that my friends at Designreisen really do always get it right.
